We are far enough in the country for privacy and yet only 30 minutes from the Syracuse, Cortland or Oneida city life. The Finger Lakes and Ithaca are less than a hour away also. Cooperstown is about 1hr, 20min. away.

Summary: This campsite is private and quiet with amazing views. There is a stream with a beaver pond and a farm pond for fishing. Walking trails with berries, apples, wild grapes, and crab-apples and abundant wildlife. Leave your thoughts behind. Bring a book or binoculars or your rod and gun (or all of those). Turkey and deer are abundant. We have seen fishers and foxes and raccoons and woodchucks. We hear coyotes often. The only visible sign of civilization from camp is a Verizon tower on the next hill giving 5 bars. Hike a mile or so to the Tioughnioga wildlife management area and take the Cazenovia Link Trail to the Finger Lakes Trail, Eire Canal Trail, the Onandaga Trail or many others. There is plenty to do within a few miles of the farm: Swimming in summer at Cavenovia's Lakeland park with a diving board and lifeguard or the beach at DeRuyter reservoir. Breweries and cideries abound only within a 20 minute drive. The Space: Hidden hilltop campsite on the north end of Appalachia at Grevlingard Permaculture farm. Your hosts, Tom and Lisa Wallace, are happy to welcome you to The Chez' Tree Rest, our 2 story treehouse perfectly perched under a heavily canopied scenic hillside. 35' above the forest floor on 2 towering Maple trees.As you walk to the treehouse across the 60' cable bridge you will feel the stress and cares of everyday life melt away. The treehouse is 150 square feet of pure magic and the perfect spot for a romantic getaway high up in the trees. Our treehouse is located on 15 acres of hardwood forest just outside of the sleepy village of Lafayette, NY - 10 miles south of Syracuse, NY and 24 miles north of Cortland, NY. Just a very short drive to wine country and the Finger Lakes region. As you arrive at the property, you will find a modest sign and a dirt road which leads down a 1/4 mile drive (or walk) to the treehouse. The reason we say drive or walk is because, in times of inclement weather, the 1/4 mile "road" to the treehouse can become muddy which will prohibit most vehicles from being able to safely drive up and down the road. When the weather is dry, the road can be driven without an issue, - however, when we have had some significant rain, (especially in the early spring), the road may be muddy and guests will have to walk the 1/4 mile road down and back (uphill) to and from the treehouse. (Bring boots in case of rain). The treehouse itself is accessed across a 60' cable bridge. There are only a few (7) stone steps which lead down to the bridge and then it is an easy walk up to the treehouse. Below the treehouse is a large, (320 square feet), deck with a fire pit table and ample seating. The deck also provides the location of the shower (with on demand hot water) and a propane BBQ grill. There is also a separate fire pit area below the treehouse which has plenty of seating and a stone edged fire ring. For off the grid purists, there are oil lamps which provide a warm, relaxing ambiance - perfect for the romantics. There is also a convenient, tiny bathroom in the treehouse with a composting toilet. If you can't survive without the creature comforts however, there is a remote controlled generator which can be turned on and off at the push of a button to power the lights, TV , DVD player, and any electric accessories which you might bring with you. We encourage you to use the generator only on a limited basis when needed and definitely not overnight. There is hot and cold running water (pumped up from the creek so not to be used for drinking or cooking - fresh water is provided), which is accessible without the use of the generator. There is a great deal of outdoor relaxing space on the treehouse level as well. There is approximately 80 square feet of decking connected to the treehouse. In addition, there is a separate 12' octagon deck that is anchored on a separate tree connected to the main deck by another 30' cable bridge. For cooking, we provide a propane camp stove. Perfect for bacon and eggs. There is also a BBQ grill on the lower deck below the treehouse. All the pots, pans, percolating coffee pot, silverware and other utensils you should need will be provided. Let the trees gently sway you to sleep amidst the soothing sounds of hoot owls and the babbling brook.

Sitting on a hill overlooking the lake this year round house offers panoramic lake views through a wall of windows, the sunsets are amazing. The living room, dining room and kitchen have an open concept all with views of the lake. The furnished year round house provides three bedrooms, one bath, washer and dryer, A/C, and a gas fireplace. Other amenities include 72 ft. Dock, fishing, swimming, swim raft, 2 picnic tables, lawn chairs, gas grill, fire pit, flat screen tv and DVD player. If you are interested in renting a boat or kayak Stone’s Marina is 2 miles from our Lake House. They will deliver and pickup . You can go to their website for details. You can keep a row boat or canoe tied to the dock during the day weather permitting. At night it can be pulled up on shore. If you are bringing a motor boat you have to take it out of the water overnight. The State Boat Launch (no fees) is 1/2 mile from our house. We have a big area for trailers. We have storms that can damage our dock and your boat which is our reason for taking boats out of the water. Our summer rentals are saturday to saturday.
